Hikes for self isolating

We spent 10 days self isolating at Poofys and plan to go back shortly. The solitude at Poofys means that we are safe and we are keeping our friends, family and community safe.  Check out  the Washington Trails Association website for some great information on hiking during this time when we need to stay home.

Here's some shots of our weekend hike of Dirty Face.

Overlooking Lake Wenatchee.

A forest fire came through parts of Dirty face in 2005. Great to see how the forest comes back to life.

Great spots to just be alone and listen to the trees.

The Glacier Lily is one of the first wildflowers of the season.

There was snow on quite few parts of the trail, this is past mid-way and I was now getting more snow than I wanted in my Blundstones.

Looking forward to packing a proper lunch, starting earlier in the day and doing the whole 8 miles round trip later in the spring!

winter getaways

Perfect afternoons...

It was a crisp, windy day at Lake Wenatchee.

...decided on a walk up one of cross country ski trails off the Chiwawa Loop rd, near Fish lake.

Found a nice warm spot in the sun to stop and do nothing....

...followed by a late lunch.

Seattle Weekend getaways

We try to spend every other weekend at Poofys, which leaves mid-week and the other weekends for Poofy's to be rented out for others to enjoy. www.airbnb.com/rooms/8884478 for all the details.  Poofys sleeps 8 comfortably, perfect for 2 families, ladies weekend or a quiet family getaway.

My weekend starts with a snow shovel workout and snowball prepping.

Followed by turning on the sauna...

Maybe a walk through the neighborhood to visit friends.

Or a hike up Bee Hill (just found out it has a name).

Usually a check in at the river.

The best friends to bring up to Poofys are the ones that surprise you by pulling out a little stove and making hot chocolate on a snowy trail!

January in Leavenworth

Here's a short list of things to do in the winter around Leavenworth besides playing in the powder up at Stevens Pass.

Hit the Leavenworth Ski hill for inner tubing action, snowshoeing, fat bikes, sledding and as well as skiing and snowboarding on a smaller hill.

New this year to Leavenworth, Ice Skating.

Timbrrr Music festival takes place January 24-25, great bands to check out both nights.

Didn't get your reindeer fix? Visit the Leavenworth Reindeer farm.

Leavenworth's holiday lights stay up until February 14th. You'll be glad you missed the December crowds.

Sleigh rides and SnowMobile tours leave from the Mountain Springs Lodge, just 3 miles from Poofys. They also have a gift shop, coffee shop, lunch grill and a lovely Sunday Brunch. You need to book ahead for dinner reservations.

The friendly folks at Plain Hardware can set you up for hitting the Nordic ski trails and snow shoe trails in Plain that start right across the street.

Lake Wenatchee has more Nordic ski trails and snow shoe trails. There is Ice Skating at the golf course at Kahler Glen.

Wildflours restaurant is not to be missed. A seasonal menu that features housemade pasta. It's also at Kahler Glen.

24 hours in Plain Wa....

After a busy summer, we had a quick fall cleaning trip over to Poofys.

Pot belly stove is ready for campfires on the cozy patio.

Patio lights are up for those early fall evenings.

We had to test the sauna and patio lights...everything is working beautifully.

Fall is starting to show its colors along the Wenatchee river as we crossed the bridge into "downtown" Plain.

...crazy to have a september brushing of snow at Stevens pass.

A quick stop to play in the first snow of the season. When we first bought Poofys 5 years ago , the first snow didn't fall until Christmas eve! We are ready for a nice long snowy season.

A trip to over the pass is not complete without a stop at Wildflours restaurant at Kahler Glen golf course on Lake Wenatchee.  Deliciousness.....
