We had a beautiful, snowy winter season... but it’s time for spring!

This is one of our favorite times of year in Plain. Warm days and cool evenings make it perfect for snuggling up by the chiminea, stargazing without the glow of city lights, and soaking in the peace and quiet—just you and the trees.

Here’s our idea of a perfect day:
Start with a morning hike—maybe Dirtyface, Nason Ridge, or one of the trails nearby. Follow it up with a refreshing plunge in Lake Wenatchee, then head home to warm up in the sauna.

Need a snack or a drink? You’ve got everything you need at home. Fire up the BBQ, settle in under the covered outdoor seating, or gather around the big picnic table. Play a round of outdoor giant Jenga or cozy up inside with a good board game or book.

Looking for something a little different?

Plan B: Make a dinner reservation at Wildflour at Kahler Glen Golf Course—great food and just minutes away. Or swing by Plain Cellars for an afternoon wine tasting and grab lunch from the A Taste of Plain.

Plan C: Head into Leavenworth—there are endless options for shopping, dining, and wandering.

However you spend your day, it’s all about slowing down, enjoying the outdoors, and unwinding in our little corner of the Cascades.

While a snow plunge 🥶 might be a little too hardcore for me, the sauna was absolutely heavenly! 🔥 Stepping into its warmth after a chilly outdoor stroll? Pure bliss.

After a day of soaking in the winter wonderland, it was time for some comfort food—because what’s a getaway without delicious eats? 🤤

No trip to the Cascades is complete without a little adventure! We wrapped up the weekend with a hike down the Pacific Crest Trail 🌲❄️. It was the perfect way to soak in the peaceful, snowy scenery before heading back to reality.

Fall Colors in the Cascades & Winter Fun Ahead at Our Leavenworth Retreat

A couple of weeks ago, we took a quick trip to our Leavenworth getaway and were lucky enough to catch the Cascade Mountains at their autumn best! The fall colors were truly spectacular, with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows lighting up the landscape. Winter is just around the corner, and we’re getting excited for the snow to blanket the hills, transforming the area into a winter wonderland.

Weekend in Leavenworth

We wrapped up the end of August with a few peaceful days at Poofy’s with close friends. I’ve been wanting to plan a larger ladies' getaway, but coordinating schedules and figuring out the right mix of friends always feels like too much! This smaller, spontaneous trip was perfect—relaxing with great company, delicious food, and beautiful weather.

 While every season has its charm, October is my absolute favorite in the Plain/ Leavenworth area. Warm days and cool, crisp evenings make for ideal hiking conditions as the leaves start to change, and it’s the perfect lead-up to snowshoeing season! Last minute booking are available. 

Weekend trips from Seattle: Vacation rental Lake Wenatchee and Leavenworth

 Summer has arrived in the PNW! 

May we recommend a visit to Lake Wenatchee. Just 2 hours drive from Seattle, spend the day hiking, swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking.

If you don't have your own, rentals are available at the lake.

Bring a picnic or pick up basic snacks at the beach shack.

For dinner (check for lunch hours) we totally recommend making reservations at WildFlour, located at Kahler Glen golf club at Lake Wenatchee. Leavenworth's best kept secret!!! Seasonal northwest handcrafted pasta, worth the drive alone!
