Fall Colors in the Cascades & Winter Fun Ahead at Our Leavenworth Retreat

A couple of weeks ago, we took a quick trip to our Leavenworth getaway and were lucky enough to catch the Cascade Mountains at their autumn best! The fall colors were truly spectacular, with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows lighting up the landscape. Winter is just around the corner, and we’re getting excited for the snow to blanket the hills, transforming the area into a winter wonderland.

Weekend in Leavenworth

We wrapped up the end of August with a few peaceful days at Poofy’s with close friends. I’ve been wanting to plan a larger ladies' getaway, but coordinating schedules and figuring out the right mix of friends always feels like too much! This smaller, spontaneous trip was perfect—relaxing with great company, delicious food, and beautiful weather.

 While every season has its charm, October is my absolute favorite in the Plain/ Leavenworth area. Warm days and cool, crisp evenings make for ideal hiking conditions as the leaves start to change, and it’s the perfect lead-up to snowshoeing season! Last minute booking are available. 

Weekend trips from Seattle: Vacation rental Lake Wenatchee and Leavenworth

 Summer has arrived in the PNW! 

May we recommend a visit to Lake Wenatchee. Just 2 hours drive from Seattle, spend the day hiking, swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking.

If you don't have your own, rentals are available at the lake.

Bring a picnic or pick up basic snacks at the beach shack.

For dinner (check for lunch hours) we totally recommend making reservations at WildFlour, located at Kahler Glen golf club at Lake Wenatchee. Leavenworth's best kept secret!!! Seasonal northwest handcrafted pasta, worth the drive alone!

Things to do in Leavenworth WA, summer edition, 3 day road trip

 Junuary is coming to an end and summer is just around the corner in the PNW. Poofy's Paradise in Plain Wa is the perfect location to explore the area. 

 Here's my 3 day itinerary for exploring Leavenworth/Lake Wenatchee/Plain.

Day 1: Leave Seattle early, take hwy 2 over Stevens pass. Stop at the Squirrel tree for a late breakfast or early lunch and coffee. Head straight to Leavenworth to spend the day. Ride the roller coaster and tell me all about it! Its on my personal list for this summer. Take a hike , remember your water and some snacks!

Head back into town for where food options are everywhere! Our personal favorites include but not limited to:

Yodelin  also the best patio view, lots of games and books. Menu features delicious hearty soups as well as healthy salads and the usual burgers, brats and beer.

South for modern delicious Mexican.

Sula Vita wood fired Italian fare, pizza and the best shareable starters and sides.

Check out the waterfront park. You can walk the entire length of it and pop out at the other end of town, navigate to Wenatchee River Institute for an educational component!

Wander back to town, get some gelato, check out the book store or the Nutcracker Museum

Head home for the night!

Day 2: Explore the trails around Lake Wenatchee and Lake Wenatchee. Nason Ridge trail head is at the golf course. Hidden lake  is a sweet very short family friendly hike with the rewards of a wee lake!

At Lake Wenatchee you can rent stand up paddle boards, kayaks. the beach shop has snacks, ice cream and coffee. 

Totally recommend make reservations at Wildflour located at the golf course at Kahler Glen at Lake Wenatchee. Our absolute favorite restaurant in the PNW. 

Day 3: Stay and explore Plain! Ziplines or  horseback riding at the lodge, just 3 miles from our place in Plain.  Do a little shopping and get coffee at Plain Hardware. Follow it up with wine tasting at Plain Cellars. Head home to enjoy a sauna and a bbq.

Perfect Weekends in Leavenworth

Seattle's favorite year round escape, the Leavenworth area offers fun for everyone year round. Stay with us for the perfect weekend or work from here and have a perfect week. Located in Plain Wa., it's the perfect spot to explore from Lake Wenatchee to Leavenworth.

Get an early start Friday and check out Lake Wenatchee in the early evening, make reservations for dinner at Wildflour, located at Kahler Glen Golf course at Lake Wenatchee, "seasonal northwest handcrafted pasta" need we say more? Enjoy the starry ride home, arrive at Poofys, maybe have a sauna and play some board games as you settle into the house.

Saturday morning enjoy breakfast at home on the patio. (Waffle iron and Mix provided) Get your second shot of coffee and maybe go Zip lining at Mountain Spring lodge, just 3 miles from us. Take a hike, we have a great book at the house with all the local spots.

Head to Plain cellars for a glass of wine and lunch from the Taste of Plain food truck. Drive the Chiwawa Loop rd into Leavenworth. Walk along the river in Enchantment Park. Explore Leavenworth and decide on dinner!!!! South for great Mexican food, Sula Vita for wood fired small plates and pizza, Bluwett Brewing for Beer and Pizza, Watershed for PNW locally sourced deliciousness (reservations recommended) or their more casual spot, Yodelin, around the corner, also has Leavenworth best patio. Great for families.

On Sunday after check out, head towards the Plain Community Church which sits at the end of the road and take the foot bridge across the river for a few selfies and then go to Plain Hardware!
